Reality star Phyna has publicly accused Dangote Group of offering her family an insultingly small compensation — and even worse — of pressuring the hospital to speed up her sister’s death.
The former Big Brother Naija housemate lost her sister Ruth after a horrific accident in Edo State in August, when she was crushed by one of Dangote’s trucks. Ruth survived for a time but suffered catastrophic injuries, losing limbs and remaining comatose before she eventually died on August 31.
Phyna had demanded a much larger payout from Dangote — she says she asked for one billion naira — a figure many online users called unrealistic. But in a recent social-media update the reality star said the company negotiated with her family and paid just N20 million, a sum she insists doesn’t remotely cover Ruth’s lifetime expenses and medical bills.
She also made a shocking allegation about the hospital’s treatment of her sister and Dangote’s role, writing in part:
“My mind is telling me Dangote group and company told Lagoon hospital to inject my sister so she will die.
If I calculate wetin my sister don chop from when she dey baby class to this Auchi Poly wey she just finished, wetin be 20 million Naira?
I don’t know who made that negotiation since na then open their mouth ask. When I found out about the 20 million I was so pissed.
Removing my sister from the mortuary I paid hundreds of thousands. Dangote I don’t do online ranting. I go say what I want to say, Una go arrest me tire. Before them burn like 15 of your trailer, you go carry me. Until my sister died before FRSC posted something, those clout chasers…”
Phyna’s post has reignited public debate about corporate responsibility, compensation after road accidents, and how grieving families are treated. The actress accused Dangote Group of drastically undervaluing her sister’s care and questioned who negotiated the settlement on the family’s behalf.
At the time of writing, Dangote Group has not issued a public response to Phyna’s allegations.
