Rapper Playboi Carti has been charged with misdemeanour assault in Utah following an alleged altercation involving his limousine driver earlier this month.
Authorities confirmed that the incident occurred on October 2 in Park City. The driver, identified as Reynolds, claimed he was assaulted while transporting the Whole Lotta Red artist, whose real name is Jordan Terrell Carter, to rehearsals.
According to TMZ, Reynolds told police that an argument broke out in the vehicle between Playboi Carti and his girlfriend. He reportedly tried to intervene but was struck during the altercation. Carti’s head of security allegedly stepped in to separate them, while another driver from the same company witnessed the incident.
Police from Wasatch County responded to the scene, documented Reynolds’ injuries, and have since launched an investigation into the matter.
This latest charge adds to Playboi Carti’s history of legal troubles. In 2017, he was arrested for domestic battery, and two years later, he was fined for assaulting his tour bus driver in Scotland. In 2020, he faced charges in Georgia after police found drugs and firearms in his Lamborghini, though he was released on bond shortly after.
In late 2022, the rapper was also arrested on a felony assault charge for allegedly choking his pregnant girlfriend.
