Tanzanian protesters have reportedly looted the fashion store of popular singer Juma Jux, following widespread unrest triggered by a disputed general election in the country.
According to reports, the protests broke out on Thursday after key opposition figures were disqualified and detained, sparking allegations of electoral irregularities and calls for the cancellation of the election results.
Amid the chaos, a post by an X (formerly Twitter) user, Bolaji Fesomade, claimed that the singer’s store — allegedly valued at $780 million — had been set ablaze by protesters.
However, Juma Jux’s wife, Priscilla Ojo, took to Snapchat to clarify the situation, refuting claims that the store was destroyed by fire.
She wrote simply:
“Looted not Burnt.”
The incident adds to growing tension in Tanzania as citizens continue to demand transparency and accountability in the aftermath of the disputed presidential election.
