Former Wolves Striker Rafa Mir Charged with Sexual Assault and Assault

Former Wolves and Nottingham Forest striker Rafa Mir has been charged with sexual assault and assault by penetration involving the use of violence, following allegations made by two women in Spain.

The 28-year-old, currently playing for LaLiga side Elche on loan from Sevilla, and fellow Spanish footballer Pablo Jara, were arrested after the women alleged they were sexually assaulted at Mir’s home in Valencia on September 1, 2024, after meeting the players at a nightclub earlier that night.

A court in Lliria, Valencia, confirmed that an investigating judge found sufficient evidence to move the case forward, following an extensive judicial probe launched after Mir’s arrest last year.

Court officials stated:

“The presiding judge of Court Number Eight of the Civil and Preliminary Investigation Section of the Court of First Instance of Lliria has indicted footballers Rafa M.V. and Pablo J.G. for separate offences of sexual assault, in the first case for an assault by penetration involving the use of violence.”

They further noted that the investigation revealed credible evidence not “mere suspicions,” that Rafa Mir allegedly sexually assaulted one of the women twice — once in a swimming pool and again in a bathroom at his residence in Bétera, a suburb of Valencia.
