Barcelona have confirmed that striker Robert Lewandowski has sustained a hamstring injury and will miss several key fixtures, including the upcoming El Clasico against Real Madrid.
The 37-year-old forward picked up the injury while representing Poland in a World Cup qualifier against Lithuania on Sunday. According to an official statement from the club, Lewandowski “has a muscle tear in the biceps femoris of his left thigh.”
Reports from Spanish media indicate that the veteran striker could be sidelined for four to six weeks, ruling him out of some of Barcelona’s most crucial matches this season.
That includes the La Liga Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu on October 26, as well as Champions League clashes against Olympiakos and Club Brugge.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are also set to be without goalkeeper Joan Garcia and playmaker Dani Olmo, both recovering from injuries. However, teenage sensation Lamine Yamal returned to training on Monday after recovering from a groin issue.
In a positive update, Ferran Torres — who was released from Spain’s national team camp over muscular discomfort — has been cleared of any serious injury.
With Lewandowski sidelined, Torres is expected to lead the attack for Barcelona in the coming weeks, as the club navigates a demanding fixture schedule without their star striker.
