Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia remains eligible to play for the Ghana Black Stars, according to recent reports.
The 20-year-old star, who currently represents Belgium at the international level, qualifies to play for Ghana through his Ghanaian father.
Under FIFA’s eligibility rules, players who have featured in fewer than three competitive senior matches for one country before turning 21 can switch national allegiance if they meet the heritage criteria.
This means Lavia could still choose to represent Ghana, despite making an appearance for Belgium’s senior national team.
Lavia, who joined Chelsea from Southampton, is yet to make a major impact for the Blues due to injuries, but his talent and potential have kept both Belgium and Ghanaian fans hopeful about his international future.
Whether the young midfielder decides to switch remains to be seen, but his connection to Ghana keeps the door open for a possible Black Stars call-up in the future.
