Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has made it clear he’s not ready to hang up his boots just yet.
The 40-year-old Portugal captain shared his thoughts after receiving the Globe Prestige Award at the Portugal Football Globes ceremony, revealing that while he knows his playing days are numbered, he still feels fit and motivated to continue.
“I want to keep playing for a few more years, not many… I have to be honest. I’m still producing good things, helping my club and the National Team. Why not continue? I’m sure when I retire, I’ll leave fulfilled because I gave everything,” Ronaldo said.
The Al Nassr striker added that he’s focused on enjoying every moment of his career rather than making long-term plans:
“I have a philosophy of living day by day. No long-term plans. I enjoy each day and each training session.”
Ronaldo emphasized that his current goal is to help Portugal qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, saying:
“Our goal is to win the next two games and qualify for the World Cup. What happens at the World Cup, we’ll see.”
Ronaldo will return to international duty this October as Portugal face Ireland on October 11 and Hungary on October 14 in their next round of World Cup qualifiers.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s words once again reflect his unwavering passion and dedication to the game — even after two decades at the top.
