Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has revealed how she manages to stay grounded while navigating the pressures of fame and public attention.
In an interview with Jay OnAir, the mother of two said maintaining her identity is a top priority despite her success in the entertainment industry.
“The last thing I want to do as a person is to lose myself in the process of being an entertainer,” Ruth said.
Known for her roles in Matilda and Love in the Wrong Place, the 37-year-old actress explained that she draws a firm line between her personal life and her career.
“I need to be able to keep the wealth of who I am, beyond the scripts, beyond the cameras,” she added.
Ruth noted that she has chosen to keep her private life, especially her marriage, off social media to protect her peace of mind.
“I am not hiding my husband, but I am keeping certain parts of my life private,” she once shared in a past post.
Beyond acting, Ruth Kadiri has made a name for herself as a film producer and content creator, running her own production company, Ruth Kadiri Films. She is also one of the most successful Nollywood filmmakers on YouTube, with several of her movies racking up millions of views.
Veteran actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde recently credited Ruth for inspiring her to embrace YouTube filmmaking.
“Ruth called me and said, ‘Mama, do you know what’s going on? There’s a whole revolution with YouTube.’ She showed me numbers and said, ‘You can do what you want on YouTube, but I think you should get in on this,’” Omotola revealed in a recent interview.
Through her consistency and creativity, Ruth Kadiri continues to redefine what success looks like for women in Nollywood.
