Nigerian actress Sarah Martins has accused officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation (KAI) of assaulting her and disrupting a charitable food outreach she organized in Lekki Phase 1.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, the actress recounted how she was distributing free meals to the less privileged along Admiralty Way when KAI officials allegedly stormed the area, seizing her cooking equipment and food meant for the outreach.
In a shocking turn of events, Sarah Martins claimed that the confrontation escalated into violence, with one of the officials allegedly pouring hot oil on her hand leaving her in pain.
“I was just trying to help the less privileged, and this is how I was treated,” she wrote, expressing disbelief and heartbreak over the incident.
The attack, which comes shortly after Sarah Martins publicly celebrated purchasing a new car, has sparked widespread outrage online. Fans and fellow Nigerians have condemned the alleged actions of the KAI officials, demanding an official investigation and justice for the actress.
Social media users also voiced broader concerns about the harassment of citizens engaging in charitable acts calling on authorities to create safer spaces for those striving to assist the needy.
As of press time, Lagos State authorities have yet to respond to the allegations.
