Taylor Swift has finally addressed long-standing rumors about her declining a Super Bowl Halftime Show performance.
Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon while promoting her 12th studio album Life of a Showgirl, the global pop icon clarified that her decision had nothing to do with ownership of performance footage.
“No,” Swift said when asked if that was the reason. “JAY-Z has always been very good to me. Our teams are really close. They sometimes will call and be like ‘How does she feel about [the Super Bowl], and that’s not like an official offer.’”
Swift revealed there hasn’t been an official discussion about her headlining the show and hinted that she didn’t want to overshadow her fiancé Travis Kelce’s football career.
“I’m in love with a guy who does that sport on that actual field. The whole season I am locked in on what that man is doing on the field,” she added.
While fans hoped 2026 would mark her Super Bowl debut, those dreams were dashed when Bad Bunny was officially announced as the upcoming headliner.
