After serving her six-month suspension, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, is set to officially resume plenary sessions with other lawmakers today (Tuesday).
Her lawyer, Victor Giwa, confirmed the development in an interview with The Punch, assuring that the Senator has completed her suspension and will return to the Red Chamber in line with constitutional provisions.
Giwa warned the Senate against any move to bar her from resuming, stressing that such action would be illegal and could plunge the legislature into “total chaos.”
“She has served out the six months, so whatever is going on in court right now is only to determine whether the March action was valid. It has nothing to do with her resumption,” he said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s office, located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing, was recently unsealed by the National Assembly Sergeant-at-Arms after she completed her sanction.
The Senator had previously described Senate President Godswill Akpabio as a “dictator” following her suspension, a remark that stirred controversy within the legislative chamber.
