Taylor Swift Poised to Break Adele’s Historic First-Week Sales Record

Adele

Nearly a decade ago, Adele set a Billboard 200 milestone with her album 25, selling 3.4 million copies in its first week—the highest first-week sales in history at the time.

Fast forward to 2025, and Taylor Swift looks ready to shatter that record with her latest release, Life of a Showgirl.

Industry analysts, tracking first-day sales of 2.7 million units, predicted that Swift’s album would surpass 3 million in its opening week. With data from the main version, variants, and physical editions now available, estimates suggest Showgirl could reach 3.5 million sales in its debut week.

If confirmed, Swift won’t just secure the #1 spot on the Billboard 200—she’ll also claim the highest first-week sales of any album in music history.

All eyes are on Sunday, October 12, when Billboard releases the official final count. Fans are eagerly awaiting to see if Swift officially eclipses Adele’s decade-old record.
