Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Tochukwu Okechukwu, popularly known as Tochi, has taken a swipe at controversial social media activist Verydarkman (VDM) amid his ongoing clash with businessman BLord over the alleged resale of upgraded iPhones.
Verydarkman recently accused BLord of scamming Nigerians by selling refurbished iPhone XR models as iPhone 17s, a claim that quickly went viral online.
However, the argument has now spiraled into a broader debate about hypocrisy and credibility among social media activists.
Reacting via his Instagram stories, Tochi criticized Verydarkman, saying he is just like every other so-called activist who uses social causes for personal gain.
He wrote:
“It takes real discipline to call yourself an activist; being stubborn doesn’t make you one.
Now you’ve made a little money, and suddenly the nation’s problems have turned into an obsession with the iPhone 17. Back when you were in your room drinking pure water, you actually made sense.”
Tochi went further to question Verydarkman’s sincerity, accusing him of losing touch with the people he once claimed to defend.
“You can’t claim to be an activist until you have enough to live comfortably and still choose to stand with the people. All these flashy phones and gadgets you’re flaunting—it’s all just noise. You’re not different from the rest, same game, same hypocrisy. You just want to sell your market,” he added.
His comments have sparked fresh reactions across social media, with many users divided—some supporting Tochi’s criticism, while others defended Verydarkman’s outspoken activism.
Recall that Verydarkman recently mocked BLord after the businessman’s Instagram account was suspended for sharing explicit content, further fueling their ongoing feud.
