Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior is said to be “seriously considering” leaving the club, amid claims that he feels disrespected by head coach Xabi Alonso, according to explosive reports from Spain.
The 25-year-old Brazilian, widely regarded as one of Europe’s brightest attacking stars, has helped Real Madrid secure 14 trophies since joining from Flamengo in 2018.
However, tensions between Vinicius and Alonso have reportedly escalated in recent weeks, reaching a breaking point during Madrid’s 2–1 El Clásico victory over Barcelona last weekend.
After being benched in the previous league match against Getafe, Vinicius returned to the starting lineup but was substituted in the 72nd minute, prompting a heated reaction.
Witnesses said Vinicius shouted, “Me? Me? Mister, mister! Me?” towards Alonso as his number appeared on the board. He allegedly added, “Always me! I’m leaving the team! I’m leaving, I’d better go!” before storming down the tunnel.
According to Madrid-based newspaper AS, the winger believes his “status isn’t respected” by Alonso and that leaving the club is now a real possibility.
Vinicius, who finished runner-up for the 2024 Ballon d’Or, reportedly feels that Alonso “doesn’t like him,” with sources describing the relationship as a “massive problem” within the squad.
Despite the growing rift, Real Madrid’s hierarchy is said to fully support Alonso, backing his management of the situation and any decision he may take regarding the Brazilian star.
