Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry and ex-Manchester City defender Micah Richards have criticised Benfica winger Gianluca Prestianni following his alleged racial abuse of Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior.
Henry and Richards suggested that Prestianni was a “coward” after the alleged incident.
The controversy occurred during Real Madrid’s 1-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League Round of 16 playoff first leg on Tuesday.
Speaking on CBS Sports Golazo, Henry said, “Let’s see how big a man Prestianni is, tell us what you said, you must have said something because you can’t go and tell Mbappé after ‘I didn’t say anything’, what do you mean you didn’t say anything? So you cover your nose because you have a cold?”
Richards, who was also on the panel, added: “He’s a coward.”
Meanwhile, UEFA has already opened an investigation into the matter.
