Former France striker Thierry Henry has claimed that many football fans are not rooting for Arsenal FC to win the Premier League title this season.
With just seven matches remaining, Mikel Arteta’s side currently sit nine points clear of Manchester City, putting them in a strong position to end their 22-year title drought.
Despite their dominance this season, Henry suggested that Arsenal do not enjoy widespread support from neutrals.
Speaking on Monday Night Football, the Arsenal legend reflected on how fans often gravitate toward underdog stories.
“I wanted them (Liverpool) to win the league because I wanted Jamie (Carragher) to win the league, Stevie G (Steven Gerrard) to win the league,” Henry said.
“Whether I like Liverpool or not, you root for the underdog, the team that couldn’t do it, or failed to win the league.”
However, he added that Arsenal’s situation appears different this season.
“(But) a lot of people don’t want Arsenal to win the league.”
Henry’s comments highlight the complex dynamics of fan sentiment in football, where historical rivalries, dominance cycles, and club perceptions often shape which team neutral supporters choose to back in a title race.
For Arsenal, however, the focus remains on maintaining their lead and finally reclaiming the Premier League crown after more than two decades.
