Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is set to be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement award at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year show.
The BBC confirmed that the former France international will receive the prestigious honour at the ceremony scheduled for Thursday night, December 18.
Reacting to the recognition,Thierry Henry described the award as deeply meaningful, reflecting on his illustrious football career and lasting impact on the sport.
“Football has given me everything, and I gave it my all,” Henry said. “To be recognised as part of its history with this Lifetime Achievement award and to have made my mark for the fans and my team-mates is something I’ll never take for granted.”
Thierry Henry joins a distinguished list of past recipients, including Sir Mark Cavendish, who won the award in 2024, as well as sporting icons such as Billie Jean King, Pelé, Sir Bobby Charlton, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Sir David Beckham, Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and Sir Chris Hoy.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest strikers of his generation,Thierry Henry won 18 trophies in senior football and scored hundreds of goals during a glittering career. He is best remembered for his legendary spell at Arsenal, where he claimed multiple Premier League titles, FA Cups and Community Shields, while becoming the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.
