Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has issued a public warning to her colleague representing Enugu West Senatorial District, Senator Osita Ngwu, over comments she alleged were deleted from a senators’ WhatsApp forum.
Although the details of their private exchange remain unclear, Akpoti-Uduaghan vowed to raise the matter on the floor of the Senate if Ngwu fails to restore the deleted remarks.
In a statement posted on Facebook on Sunday, she wrote:
“Dear Senator Osita Ngwu of Enugu West Senatorial District, you will open responses in the Senators WhatsApp forum and repost my deleted comments. Else I’ll bring the discussion to the public domain.”
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s warning comes months after she returned to the upper chamber, following a six-month suspension imposed in March over a sexual misconduct allegation involving Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Upon her return in September, the Kogi Central lawmaker revealed why many of her colleagues did not openly support her during the suspension. Speaking at the commissioning of a new market in Okene, Kogi State, she said several senators privately reached out to her but avoided public solidarity for fear of political repercussions.
She noted that although they expressed support behind the scenes, concerns about political persecution prevented them from standing with her publicly.
