According to the senator, she has faced similar challenges in the past, including suggestions that she should contest elections outside Kogi State after getting married to a man from Delta State. She said such moments required resilience and self-belief.

She noted that these experiences have prepared her for the pressures that come with politics, especially for women, adding that strength and determination are essential to withstand such challenges.

Speaking further, Akpoti-Uduaghan confirmed that overtures to join the APC have continued, including very recently.

“I was in APC briefly. At the start of everything but now, no. Why should I go join APC? I don’t have to follow the bandwagon. I don’t have to succumb to any threats or fall for any cajolement. Let me be honest about it. I’ve been approached by people from the presidency, from even my colleagues, even as recent as yesterday.
