Actress and former Big Brother Naija star Bamike Adenibuyan, popularly known as BamBam, has revealed that she deliberately avoids taking on spiritually intense or diabolical movie roles whenever she is not mentally or spiritually prepared for them.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, BamBam explained that her sensitivity as an actor influences the type of scripts she accepts. “I am a very sensitive actor. I try to avoid deeply spiritual films, especially when I’m not sure or spiritually ready for them,” she said.
She noted that acting requires deep emotional and mental preparation before stepping on set, stressing that performers must understand a character’s history, motivations and emotional triggers.
Speaking about her role as Chioma in Love in Every Word, she said, “When you get a script, you step into the role of that character.
I got to understand Chioma’s personality and added a part of me to make her real. Acting is about understanding where your character is coming from so you can react as they would.”
BamBam also addressed what many former Big Brother Naija stars experience in Nollywood, saying some filmmakers still doubt their acting abilities. Despite the scepticism, she remains focused on building her career and proving her range.
Since leaving the reality show, BamBam has appeared in Inspector K, Backup Wife and Foreigner’s God, where she starred alongside her husband, Teddy A. Her performance in Love in Every Word has earned praise for her on-screen chemistry with co-star Uzor Arukwe.
