“I Lost Years of Memories” — Bambam Speaks Out After Phone Theft at Alexx Ekubo’s Service of Songs

Bambam Speaks Out After Phone Theft at Alexx Ekubo's Service of Songs

Reality TV star and actress Bambam has finally addressed the controversy surrounding the theft of her phone during the service of songs held in honour of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, clarifying misconceptions that emerged after a viral video circulated online.

Speaking on the incident, Bambam explained that she only realized her phone was missing after leaving the event and getting into her car.

The actress also addressed a widely shared video that appeared to show a woman removing a phone from her handbag, prompting some social media users to accuse her of stealing the device.

According to Bambam, the woman seen in the video was actually her personal assistant and not the person responsible for the theft.

“I’ve seen videos circulating about a lady moving her phone from my bag. That was my personal assistant because that place was rowdy and the bag I was carrying was open. She just thought to remove my phone so that it’s not stolen,” she explained.

Bambam said her assistant acted out of concern for the phone’s safety amid the crowded atmosphere at the event.

However, due to crowd control measures around the VIP section, the assistant was reportedly unable to reach her immediately after removing the device from the bag.

The actress revealed that when they eventually reunited after the ceremony, the phone could no longer be found.

She explained that she initially assumed the device was still with her assistant and only later realized it had likely disappeared during the period when guests were exchanging greetings, taking photographs, and interacting after the event.

The actress described the loss as deeply painful, noting that the phone contained years of personal memories, including photos, videos, and important contacts.

“I was sad first. I was really sad that my contacts, my videos… I’ve had that phone, it has everything. They’re not even updated on my iCloud, so a lot of my pictures and videos are not backed up,” she said.

Beyond her own experience, Bambam disclosed that several other attendees also lost their phones during the event.

According to her, one of her friends had a phone stolen, while reports suggested that a member of Alexx Ekubo’s family was also affected.

“It wasn’t just my phone that was stolen. My friend’s phone, I think even one of Alex’s brother’s phones were taken and another guy. A few of us were looking for our phones that night. It was sad,” she added.

The actress stressed that her decision to speak publicly was driven by a desire to clear her assistant’s name and prevent further misinformation from spreading online.

She urged the public to stop directing accusations at her assistant, insisting that the viral video was recorded before the theft occurred and that the woman had actually been trying to protect the phone from being stolen.

Bambam’s clarification has since generated reactions online, with many sympathising with her over the loss of valuable personal memories and expressing support for her assistant.

The incident has also sparked conversations about security at large public gatherings, particularly events attended by celebrities and high-profile guests.

For Bambam, however, the most painful aspect of the ordeal remains the loss of irreplaceable memories accumulated over the years, many of which were not backed up and may now be gone forever.
