Chelsea’s teenage sensation Estevao delivered a stunning solo goal on Tuesday night, winning the much-anticipated showdown against Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal as the Blues dominated their Champions League tie with a convincing 3–0 victory at Stamford Bridge.
The 18-year-old winger stole the spotlight with a moment of brilliance that underlined why he is already considered one of football’s next global stars.
Both teenagers had been placed under the microscope in the buildup to the high-profile match, but Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca urged Estevao to ignore comparisons and remain focused.
The Brazilian rose to the occasion just 10 minutes into the second half, picking up the ball on the right flank, weaving past two Barcelona defenders, and firing an unstoppable strike into the top of Joan Garcia’s net.
The goal — his 10th of the season for club and country — doubled Chelsea’s lead and left a depleted Barcelona with little hope of a comeback. The Spanish giants were already trailing 1–0 and down to 10 men, facing sustained pressure from a Chelsea side clearly in control from kickoff.
Substitute Liam Delap sealed the win in the 73rd minute, tapping home from close range. Although the assistant referee flagged for offside, VAR overturned the decision, confirming Chelsea’s third goal of the night.
The comprehensive victory was a deserved one for the two-time European champions, as Barcelona struggled throughout the match and failed to match Chelsea’s intensity or creativity.
