Nigerian singer Omah Lay has expressed excitement over his first-ever Grammy nomination, though he insists awards don’t mean much to him personally.
The Soso crooner earned his maiden Grammy nod for his collaboration with Davido on the track “With You,” which received a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category at the upcoming 68th Annual Grammy Awards.
Taking to his Instagram page, Omah Lay shared his mixed feelings about the recognition.
“I’m excited about this Grammy nomination haha but fr fr I don’t give a sh!t about awards. Yeah but I really want it for OBO! He is the realest friend I’ve had in a while, he stood by [me] during my hardest times,” he wrote.
Despite his own nomination, Omah Lay made it clear he’s rooting for Davido, describing the Unavailable hitmaker as a true friend who supported him through difficult moments.
While Omah Lay celebrates his first Grammy nod, Davido is still chasing his first win. The superstar has been nominated four times, including multiple nods in the Best African Music Performance category since its introduction in 2023.
The 2026 Grammy Awards are scheduled for February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The event will air live on CBS and stream globally via Paramount+.
