Pop star Demi Lovato says she’s officially done getting matching tattoos — and for good reason.
Speaking on the Las Culturistas podcast, the Cool for the Summer singer admitted that many of her tattoos were the result of “impulsive decisions” rather than carefully thought-out choices.
The 33-year-old, who uses both she/her and they/them pronouns, confessed that one particular tattoo has aged poorly because it reminds her of someone she’d rather forget.
“It is what it is… it was still a cool story behind the tattoo that I got, but do I wish I didn’t get a matching tattoo with someone? Yes!” Demi Lovato revealed.
According to the Heart Attack hitmaker, matching tattoos with romantic partners seem to come with bad luck.
“Don’t do it. I think it’s like cursed,” they said. “I’ve gotten two matching tattoos and it just didn’t end up well. Rule of thumb — it’s not a good idea.”
Demi Lovato, who is married to fellow musician Jutes, also shared that she wishes she had been more “selective” about her ink when she was younger.
“I went so hard on tattoos at such a young age,” she admitted. “I wish I had thought more about it instead of being impulsive.”
These days, Demi Lovato has slowed down with new tattoos. Her most recent one, done in May 2024, is the heartfelt phrase “I love you more” — written in her mother’s handwriting and inked on her left inner forearm.
