Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, widely known as Tems, has opened up about the profession she would likely have pursued if she hadn’t ventured into the music industry.
During a fan interaction on X on Tuesday, a follower asked her what career she might have chosen if music hadn’t worked out.
“If music didn’t work, what else do you think you would be doing today?,” the fan asked.
Tems replied, “I might have been an accountant or a mathematics teacher.”
The Grammy-winning star has previously shared that she left her job as a digital marketer in January 2018 to fully commit to her passion for music.
She released her debut single, ‘Mr Rebel’, in July 2018, which received modest attention in Nigeria. Her breakthrough, however, came after she featured on Wizkid’s 2020 hit single ‘Essence’, which later soared to number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart following its remix with Justin Bieber.
