Nollywood actor Taye Arimoro has taken legal action against his colleague Peggy Ovire, following an alleged assault that occurred during a movie shoot.
The dispute began last week after a viral video shared by Arimoro showed him accusing Peggy and her crew of attacking him on set.
According to him, Peggy allegedly instructed her driver to block his vehicle, preventing him from leaving.
He further claimed that his tyres were deflated and that he sustained injuries to his gums and lips during the altercation.
In response, Peggy denied the allegations and accused Arimoro of physically assaulting two crew members during the shoot.
She claimed that by the time she intervened, the situation had already escalated. Peggy also alleged that Arimoro drove off while she was still beside the vehicle, and that her driver was later found bleeding from the ear after allegedly being hit multiple times.
However, CCTV footage later surfaced online, contradicting Peggy’s account. The video showed the actress removing her wig and handing her phone to someone, appearing ready to confront Arimoro — casting doubt on her earlier claims.
Arimoro has since taken the matter to court. In a statement shared on his Instagram page, he posted screenshots of legal documents filed against Peggy, demanding a public apology and N100 million in compensation.
In a letter dated November 18, 2025, from Inibehe Effiong Chambers, the actor alleged that his fundamental rights were violated during the incident.
He claimed his car was obstructed by the production manager, who was blocking the exit with another vehicle.
Out of fear for his safety, he said he began an Instagram Live broadcast after allegedly receiving threats, and accused Peggy of attempting to delete evidence from his phone.
He also detailed physical injuries, including a fractured mandible, bite marks, and multiple bruises.
According to his lawyers, Arimoro suffered breaches of his rights to personal liberty, movement, and dignity, alongside emotional trauma, psychological distress, and financial loss.
They issued Peggy Ovire a seven-day ultimatum: either issue a public video apology across all her platforms and pay N100 million in damages, or face further legal action.
