Why I abandoned my car with police in UK after it was impounded – Don Jazzy

Don Jazzy Splurges on Rare Wristwatch Worth

Nigerian music mogul Don Jazzy has addressed a resurfaced story about a police-related incident he encountered in the United Kingdom during his early career, following revelations made by his former associate, Bankulli.

Bankulli had recounted at a recent event that Don Jazzy once fled the scene of a car accident in London. According to him, the producer removed the vehicle’s number plate and ran off when police arrived, claiming the cost of towing the damaged car was higher than its value at the time.

“He fell asleep while driving after a show and crashed his car.
Don Jazzy abandoned the car, removed the plate number and ran away… Look at Jazzy now, he has fleets of cars,” Bankulli said.

The story quickly generated reactions online, with one X user expressing fears that British authorities could reopen the incident if Don Jazzy returned to the UK.

“With this reckless talk from Bankulli, I really hope Don Jazzy isn’t planning a trip to London. They can reopen a 20-year-old case!” the user wrote.

But Don Jazzy promptly dispelled the concerns, clarifying that he never ran from the police and that Bankulli’s recollection was inaccurate.

He explained that he waited for officers to arrive at the scene, underwent a breathalyser test—which confirmed he wasn’t intoxicated—and allowed the authorities to impound the vehicle.

According to him, the car was ultimately abandoned because the retrieval fee exceeded the value of the car.

“Lol no panic. It’s been so long, so he doesn’t remember the story exactly.
I actually waited for the police. They came and gave me a breathalyser to determine if I was drunk. I wasn’t, but the car was impounded.
The fine to collect the car back was more than the cheap car, so I left it with them lol,” he wrote.

Don Jazzy’s clarification has since calmed concerns among fans, many of whom praised his transparency.
