Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has officially confirmed that he will contest the 2027 presidential election.

Obi made the declaration on Sunday night while speaking during an X Spaces session, where he dismissed speculation that he might settle for a vice-presidential slot.

The former Anambra State governor insisted that he has no intention of running as anyone’s deputy, stressing that his experience and preparation are geared towards leading the country.

“I am not travelling round the world to learn governance to be Vice President,” Peter Obi said.

He expressed confidence in his capacity to govern Nigeria, noting that his background in business and public service places him ahead of other contenders.

“I know how to turn Nigeria around. I built my business from scratch and have more experience than any candidate, including the sitting President,” he added.

Peter Obi concluded by reaffirming his ambition and calling for public support.
