Emi Buendia delivered a sensational last-gasp winner on Saturday as Aston Villa sealed a 2–1 victory over Arsenal in the Premier League.
Arsenal entered the clash five points clear at the top of the table and aiming to widen their lead, but they struggled to find control at Villa Park. The hosts applied early pressure and were eventually rewarded in the first half when a looping cross fell to Matty Cash, who calmly fired past David Raya to put Villa ahead.
Mikel Arteta responded by introducing Leandro Trossard, and the Belgian made an immediate impact, slotting in the equaliser to restore hope for the Gunners.
However, Villa had the final say. In the dying seconds, a chaotic scramble in Arsenal’s box ended with Buendia curling a superb effort into the net, sealing a dramatic victory with virtually the last kick of the game.
The result lifts Aston Villa to 30 points—just three behind Arsenal—pending the outcome of Manchester City’s clash with Sunderland at the Etihad.
