Popular cleric and Senior Pastor, Dr. Chris Okafor, has reportedly initiated legal proceedings against social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, over allegations of cyber harassment and defamation.
According to a statement attributed to Pastor Okafor’s legal representatives, the lawsuit arises from what they described as sustained online attacks, including alleged cyber incitement, cyberbullying, cyber harassment, cyberstalking, criminal defamation, and malicious impersonation.
The statement further alleges that VeryDarkMan carried out the actions in collaboration with a woman identified as Miss Chi.
While noting that online allegations against the cleric did not originate recently, the legal team claimed the attacks were initially instigated by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala and individuals described as her associates.
However, they clarified that the current legal action explicitly targets the alleged roles of VeryDarkMan and Miss Chi in amplifying and sustaining the claims against Pastor Okafor.
In a strongly worded remark, the statement dismissed Miss Chi’s allegations as baseless, describing her claims as “laughable” and accusing her of fabricating a narrative allegedly designed to exploit the cleric’s reputation.
Part of the statement from Pastor Okafor’s legal counsel reads:
“It has come to our notice, as well as to the public, the cyber incitement, cyberbullying, cyber harassment, cyberstalking, criminal defamation, and malicious impersonation perpetrated by Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, and one Miss Chi.
It is no longer news that these acts of criminal stalking, cybercrime, and libellous publications against our client, Senior Pastor Dr. Chris Okafor, were initially started by Miss Doris Ogala and her cohorts. However, the focus of this press briefing is on Miss Chi and her laughable, gold-digging story, allegedly calculated to exploit our client.”
As of the time of filing this report, neither VeryDarkMan nor the other individuals mentioned in the statement has publicly responded to the lawsuit.
