Canadian rapper Drake has reportedly lost $200,000 after backing Jake Paul to defeat heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua in their highly anticipated bout in Miami.
Paul suffered the second defeat of his boxing career, as Joshua knocked him out in the sixth round on Friday night to secure a convincing victory.
Ahead of the fight, Drake had publicly revealed his wager on Instagram, posting a screenshot of the bet with the caption, “Jakeyyyyy boy. Lock tf in.” The rapper stood to earn a staggering $1.64 million (£1.2 million) had Paul emerged victorious.
The loss adds to the singer’s growing list of high-profile betting misfires. The rapper, whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham, has developed a reputation for unlucky sports predictions.
In November last year, he also lost $355,000 (£281,440) after betting on boxing legend Mike Tyson to defeat Jake Paul, a fight Paul ultimately won.
Drizzy latest loss has once again sparked online reactions, with fans joking about the so-called “Drake curse” in sports betting.
