Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) says she is fully prepared to prove her sexual harassment allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio in court.
Her response comes after Akpabio filed a ₦200 billion defamation lawsuit against her in Abuja. Confirming receipt of the suit, Akpoti-Uduaghan said the legal action has finally given her the opportunity she was denied by the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges to present her case before a competent court.
In a statement, Senator Natasha declared that the lawsuit now provides the platform she has long awaited to lay out her claims in full.
According to her, she will establish that she was sexually harassed, and that her refusal to yield to the alleged advances triggered ongoing political attacks against her.
“See you in court, Godswill Akpabio,” she stated.
Akpabio’s lawsuit accuses Senator Natasha of making malicious and widely publicized allegations that he sexually harassed her. Documents from the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory show that the Senate President is demanding ₦200 billion in damages, retractions, and public apologies broadcast across major media outlets.
The suit contends that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s interviews—aired on television, radio, and shared extensively online—portrayed him as a predator who abused his position for personal gain. Akpabio argues that millions of Nigerians viewed the content, resulting in public outrage that he describes as harmful, humiliating, and deeply distressing.
He is also asking the court to compel the removal of all online materials containing the allegations.
A court order issued on November 6, 2025, granted Akpabio permission to serve the court documents on the senator through the Clerk of the National Assembly after unsuccessful attempts at personal service.
The case is now set to proceed, with observers predicting it will become one of the most closely watched legal battles in Nigeria’s recent political history.
