Toyosi Etim Effiong, wife of Nollywood actor Daniel Etim Effiong, has stirred online reactions after stating that infidelity is not a dealbreaker for her in marriage, explaining that she believes men can be tempted and lured.
Toyosi made the disclosure during an interview with media personality Toke Makinwa, where she spoke candidly about marriage, particularly within the entertainment industry.
“Cheating is not a dealbreaker for me. I even created a prayer group, Wives of Entertainers Prayer Group, to pray for our husbands so that Jezebels will not carry them,” she said.
According to her, the prayer group was formed out of the belief that men are often exposed to temptation, especially in the entertainment space, and that spiritual support is important in guarding marriages.
Her comments quickly sparked mixed reactions on social media. While some Nigerians expressed concern over her stance on infidelity, others argued that marriage boundaries are personal and differ from one couple to another.
Daniel Etim Effiong, who married Toyosi in 2017, has previously been at the centre of online discussions due to his romantic and kissing scenes in films. Some social media users have often questioned how comfortable his wife is with such roles.
Toyosi has, however, addressed such concerns in the past, stating that she understands the demands of her husband’s profession and clearly separates his acting roles from their marriage.
The couple have three children together.
