Media personality Madame Joyce has narrated a frightening experience in Lagos after she was mobbed by street hoodlums who mistook her for Nigerian rapper Zlatan while she was riding in his car.
Joyce, who is currently in Lagos for the annual Detty December festivities, shared the incident in a video that has since circulated on social media. In the clip, she appeared visibly shaken as a crowd surrounded the vehicle.
“Guys, I’m not Zlatan… he just let me use his car. I’m not Zlatan, they actually think Zlatan is in the car,” she was heard repeatedly saying, trying to calm the situation.
The tense encounter reportedly caused panic, as the hood boys insisted the rapper was inside the vehicle, drawing closer and heightening fears for her safety.
Following the incident, social media users expressed relief that Joyce escaped without harm, while many used the moment to highlight the risks associated with moving around in luxury or celebrity-owned vehicles in Lagos, especially during the busy Detty December season when the city is crowded with partygoers, fans, and onlookers.
Others also pointed out how cases of mistaken identity can quickly escalate into dangerous situations, calling for increased caution and security awareness during festive outings.
