Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the National Assembly, will formally register as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Thursday, December 18.
Kingibe had announced her defection from the Labour Party (LP) to the ADC in July, ahead of the 2027 general election, describing the move as a deliberate political decision that would be marked with “fanfare.”
According to a statement issued by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Kennedy Mbele, the official registration will take place at the ADC national headquarters in Wuse, Abuja, at 10 a.m. The event will formally confirm her exit from the Labour Party and her entry into the ADC.
The statement noted that senior ADC officials, party candidates for the February 21 FCT area council elections, supporters, and members of the media are expected to attend the registration ceremony.
“Kingibe’s bold step of joining ADC makes her the only serving senator in the new but vibrant opposition party,” the statement said, adding that her political experience and credentials make her “an invaluable asset in any political space across the globe.”
Her move is expected to further shape political alignments within the FCT and strengthen the ADC’s profile ahead of future elections.
