Content creator and entertainer Nons Miraj has opened up about her decision to move away from the popular Ada Jesus character that first brought her widespread recognition.
Speaking on the Tea With Tay podcast, Nons Miraj explained that while the character helped her gain visibility, it eventually boxed her into a narrow perception that no longer aligned with who she wanted to be or how she wanted her brand to grow.
“After the whole Ada Jesus thing, I was like, ‘What do I do again?’ because people will get tired of you turning people into yam and fish,” she said. “I got tired—people were thinking I was old. My followers became old men, and I said I need to do something that will make them see all this fineness.”
She added that although the character attracted attention, it wasn’t the kind she wanted anymore.
“Men were attracted to the Ada Jesus character, but older men. I needed the fine bad boy to enter my DM, spend money on me, and let’s see if we can have a relationship,” she said.
According to Nons Miraj, the shift was a strategic move aimed at growth and repositioning her brand beyond comedy skits built around a single identity.
Now widely known as the host of The Hunt Game Show, she has expanded her footprint across comedy, acting, and digital entertainment. Her Ada Jesus skits were celebrated for their exaggerated humour and bold character portrayal, but she said it became necessary to evolve.
The entertainer also spoke about the realities of fame and financial success, noting that many people misunderstand what big deals actually mean.
“I have not really seen a bad side of this level of exposure except for the billing. They just see that one signed a 70 million naira deal. You don’t know that someone is building a house. One has to do other projects; I have put the whole money there,” she explained.
She further revealed that her rise in status affected some of her personal relationships, particularly friendships driven by entitlement.
“I have entitled friends—that’s what made me cut away from most of them. Leave me the hell alone. I do too much for my friends; I love my friends, I can even do more for my friends than for my family, but most of them just started feeling entitled,” she said.
Nons Miraj began her career as an actress before transitioning fully into comedy and online content creation, where she continues to reinvent herself and expand her audience beyond the persona that first made her famous.
