Sabrina Carpenter has opened up about a painful accident she suffered while filming the music video for her Grammy-nominated single Manchild.
During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the 26-year-old singer revealed that she fell onto a cactus during the intense shoot, which featured an astonishing 37 outfit changes.
“I fell on a cactus,” she told Meyers. “It’s so easy to laugh when people get hurt. And I did. But then I started crying.”
She added that a medic was on set, and she spent the rest of the day pulling cactus spines out of her skin.
Calling the production her “most ambitious” yet, Sabrina Carpenter said:
“I’m so grateful to be able to make that production of my dreams. But… we endured a lot of pain to get the finished product.”
The Manchild video is nominated for Best Music Video at the 2026 Grammy Awards, and Carpenter has three additional nominations for the song: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance.
Reflecting on the creative direction of the video, she said she enjoyed surprising fans with visuals they “don’t expect” from pop music, adding that the project “means a lot” to her.
Carpenter also spoke about the creation of Manchild, sharing a heartfelt message she previously posted on Instagram about how the song captured the “confusing and fun young adult years of life.”
She wrote that she hopes fans will “stick your head out the car window and scream it all summer long.”
