Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has played down speculation about a possible governorship run in Kogi State in 2027, saying her focus may instead be on seeking re-election to the Senate.
The lawmaker made this known during an interview on the Mic On Podcast with Seun Okinbaloye on Saturday, where she revealed that she is currently consulting with her family and relevant political stakeholders about her next move.
According to Senator Natasha, discussions are ongoing within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but no final decision has been taken.
“I’m not even promised tomorrow, if by chance I live to experience the 2027 election, I may vye for the Senate again,” she said.
“That is what I’m currently in conversation with, with my political party and it’s not yet certain because I first have to get the buying of my husband and family.
“But if by chance he says go ahead I will take that step, as for the governorship in 2027, I don’t know and would not like to speak about that.”
Senator Natasha also ruled out any plans to defect from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), reaffirming her commitment to her current party.
Her comments come amid growing political discussions in Kogi State ahead of the 2027 general elections, with her remarks suggesting a cautious and consultative approach to future ambitions.
