Tacha Slams Lawrence Alabi Over Arrest of ‘Banger Boy’, Condemns Public Humiliation

Former Big Brother Naija housemate and media personality, Natacha Akinde, popularly known as Tacha, has criticised content creator Lawrence Alabi for turning the arrest of an upcoming creator and social media troll into online content.

The individual, known on 𝕏 as “Small Ralph” (@Churlah) and popularly referred to as “Banger Boy” due to his frequent trolling, was reportedly arrested following allegations of cyberbullying and defamatory posts directed at Alabi and his wife.

While many social media users acknowledged Alabi’s right to seek legal redress, the situation sparked outrage after videos of Banger Boy’s arrest surfaced online, with critics accusing Alabi of subjecting the young man to public humiliation.

Reacting via a post on 𝕏, Tacha condemned the public display, stressing that although the law should take its course, humiliating someone online was unnecessary and dangerous. She argued that Nigerians often abuse power or influence once they attain success.

“We are the biggest hypocrites to ever exist. We can all agree that the Nigerian dream is to make it well enough to oppress another Nigerian,” she wrote.

Tacha further compared the situation to what is obtainable abroad, noting that such actions would not be tolerated elsewhere.

“You live in the UK, you know with a billion pounds you can’t do this. Sue the boy; I don’t care. But what you won’t do is humiliate him,” she added.

She also expressed willingness to help ensure due process, stating that Banger Boy should face the law without being subjected to public shaming.

“If anybody can get me the boy’s contact, send a DM or drop a comment. We will get him out, and the boy in question will still face the law. But what you won’t do is humiliate him,” Tacha said.
