Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi and his OGC Nice teammate Jeremie Boga have filed formal legal complaints after being violently attacked by their own club supporters.
The shocking incident occurred on Sunday, November 30, following Nice’s 3–1 loss to Lorient. When the team bus returned to the club’s training center, it was met by around 400 furious fans.
According to Truibuna, the situation escalated when both Moffi and Boga were punched, kicked, spat on, and even hit in their genitals, while also being subjected to racist abuse. Moffi had featured for the full match while Boga came on as a substitute.
Boga has reportedly been placed on five days’ leave, while Moffi will be unavailable for selection until next Sunday. It was also revealed that Moffi needed assistance from goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf just to get safely inside the facility.
Players had been warned of a hostile crowd upon leaving the airport, but still chose to report back to the training ground. Two fan representatives initially boarded the bus to voice concerns about the club’s poor form — but things turned violent once they disembarked.
Reports claim Boga was targeted partly because he previously invited Marseille fans to a home match — a group accused of mocking Nice supporters — while Moffi was allegedly seen laughing with ex-Lorient star Loïc Rémy after the defeat.
Nice sporting director Florian Maurice was also attacked despite security being on ground.
OGC Nice — currently owned by Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and sitting 10th in Ligue 1 after six straight defeats — condemned the assault in a strong statement:
“The frustration around recent performances is understood, but the incidents that occurred are unacceptable. Several members of the club were targeted. OGC Nice offers them its full support and condemns these acts in the strongest possible terms.”
The situation has sparked serious outrage across French football, with investigations now underway.
