Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi is reportedly seeking to terminate his contract with French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice following a violent incident involving club supporters.
The 26-year-old Nigerian forward was assaulted by Nice fans in November 2024 after the club’s 3-1 defeat to Lorient. According to reports, Moffi and teammate Jeremie Boga were punched, kicked, spat on, and subjected to racist abuse, with some of the attacks allegedly directed at their genitals. Moffi featured for the full 90 minutes in the match, while Boga came on as a substitute.
Since the incident, Terem Moffi has been on sick leave for six weeks. He has now filed a formal complaint with the Professional Football League’s legal committee, seeking the termination of his contract with the club.
French outlet L’Equipe reports that Moffi’s legal team has validated the request, citing Articles 51 and 265 of the professional football charter as the basis for the action.
The Professional Football League is expected to review the case on Thursday. While contract termination is being considered, the situation could also open the door to further negotiations, including the possibility of a loan move.
Terem Moffi is currently contracted to OGC Nice until June 2027.
