Hollywood filmmaker Tyler Perry is facing renewed legal trouble following a new lawsuit accusing him of sexual harassment and assault.
An actor, Mario Rodriguez, who appeared briefly in Perry’s 2016 film Boo! A Madea Halloween, filed the suit in Los Angeles, alleging that the misconduct occurred over several years after the two met in 2015.
According to court documents, Rodriguez claims the alleged incidents took place at Perry’s Los Angeles home, including an encounter in 2018 during which Perry allegedly made unwanted advances and inappropriate physical contact.
Rodriguez, who appeared in the movie as “Frat Guy #10,” is suing for sexual assault, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, and is seeking at least $77 million in damages. The lawsuit also names Lionsgate, accusing the studio of ignoring alleged misconduct.
The filing comes months after a separate lawsuit was brought against Perry by another actor linked to his BET series The Oval. Perry’s legal team has dismissed both cases, describing them as baseless and opportunistic.
As of the time of filing, Tyler Perry has not personally responded to the latest allegations.
