Popular Nigerian reality TV star and comedian, Aderombi Adedayo, better known as DeeOne, has revealed that celebrity fashion designer Veekee James is his former girlfriend.
DeeOne made the disclosure while responding to comments Veekee James recently made about him during an appearance on Unfiltered and Extra Spicy with Ify’s Kitchen podcast, where she described the comedian as an “unserious” person and suggested he should not be taken seriously.
Reacting in a video shared on his Instagram page, captioned “Ruth, you never still move on from this our matter”, DeeOne said the remark felt like “a blast from the past,” as he insisted he had long moved on.
According to the comedian, the pair were romantically involved shortly after he exited Big Brother Naija in 2018. He described Veekee James, whom he referred to by her real name, Ruth, in positive terms, noting that there was no bad blood between them.
DeeOne explained that their relationship ended due to personal differences, particularly his dislike for what he described as excessive control, stressing that it was never about ill treatment. He also claimed that people within the entertainment industry, including Veekee James’ husband, were aware of their past relationship.
Despite addressing the issue publicly, DeeOne maintained a conciliatory tone, wishing Veekee James and her husband well and emphasizing that he harbors no resentment. He further urged fans and social media users not to take celebrity disputes personally, noting that many dynamics within the entertainment industry are often unknown to the public.
He concluded by apologizing if he had unknowingly offended the fashion designer, reiterating that from his end, “it’s all love.”
