Wike Rejects Expulsion Notice, Insists He Remains a Member of PDP

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike Debunks Suicide Bombing Rumour in Nyanya Explosion

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims that he has been expelled from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring on Friday that he remains a bona fide member of the party.

His reaction follows an announcement by a faction led by PDP National Chairman, Kabiru Turaki, which issued expulsion certificates to 11 prominent members, including Wike, former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Umaru Bature, Kamarudeen Ajibade (SAN), Abdurahman Muhammad, and Senator Mao Ohuabunwa. Turaki said the expulsions were part of efforts to “sanitise” the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking to journalists after inspecting the interchange bridge and access road connecting Gwarinpa to Jahi, Katampe, Gishiri and Maitama, Wike dismissed the faction’s declaration.

“Those that are factionalized are bound to leave the party. I am still in the PDP, and you can see that not everybody has left,” he said.

“We still have good numbers, and we will continue to work together. I have said to the party: put your house in order because, at the end of the day, if you don’t, it is the party that loses.”

Wike added that genuine members should focus on strengthening the PDP to remain a relevant opposition force ahead of future elections.
