Chelsea Football Club have announced the appointment of Liam Rosenior as the new head coach of the men’s team.

The 41-year-old Englishman has signed a six-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2032.

Rosenior joins Chelsea from French side RC Strasbourg, where he enjoyed an impressive debut season, guiding the club to European qualification for the first time in 19 years. He has previously coached in England with Hull City and Derby County.

Speaking on his appointment, Rosenior described the opportunity as a huge honour, noting Chelsea’s rich history and winning tradition. He said his focus would be on protecting the club’s identity and building a team that reflects its values while continuing to compete for trophies.

The former defender emphasised the importance of unity, teamwork and togetherness, stating that these principles would form the foundation of his tenure at the club. He also expressed excitement about working with Chelsea’s players and staff, creating a united environment driven by a shared ambition to succeed at the highest level.

Rosenior added that he wants the club’s supporters to feel proud of the team in every match, describing the fans as the soul of Chelsea Football Club, and expressed his eagerness to begin work.

His first match in charge of the Blues will be an FA Cup fixture against Charlton Athletic on Saturday. Caretaker manager Calum MacFarlane will remain in charge for Wednesday night’s West London derby against Fulham.
