AFCON 2025: Osimhen Threatens to Quit Super Eagles After Clash With Lookman

Osimhen

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly threatened to walk away from the national team and return to Turkey following an on-field altercation with teammate Ademola Lookman.

According to Arise News, the incident occurred during Nigeria’s 4-0 victory over Mozambique at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday.

Osimhen, who scored twice in the match with both goals assisted by Lookman, was said to be visibly angry after his teammate failed to pass the ball to him in the 64th minute. The 27-year-old striker reportedly lashed out at Lookman over the incident.

Following the outburst, Osimhen was seen signaling to the bench to be substituted and was later replaced by Moses Simon.

At the end of the match, Osimhen allegedly stormed out of the stadium and dropped his accreditation card, insisting he was “done” with the national team and wanted to return to Turkey.

However, the situation was eventually brought under control after senior officials of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, intervened and calmed the striker.
