Chris Brown’s legal battle against Investigation Discovery has suffered a major setback after a judge dismissed his lawsuit challenging the documentary Chris Brown: A History of Violence.
According to Billboard, the singer had sued Warner Bros. and production company Ample, alleging that the 2024 documentary defamed him by promoting false claims of abuse and sexual misconduct, despite what he said was evidence submitted to the filmmakers.
However, Judge Colin Leis rejected Brown’s claims after reviewing the documentary in full. In his ruling, the judge stated that the film presented a “fair and true” account of the allegations, noting that it also highlighted inconsistencies raised by Brown, including the existence of text messages.
“The court has personally viewed the entire documentary… Media defendants thus presented a ‘fair and true’ report of [the woman’s] statements and the judicial record and proceedings,” the judge said.
Chris Brown has not publicly reacted to the decision, though he retains the right to appeal the ruling.
