L.A. Reid Settles Sexual Assault Lawsuit on Day Civil Trial Was Set to Begin

Grammy-winning music executive L.A. Reid has settled a long-running sexual assault lawsuit with former Arista Records executive Drew Dixon on the same day the civil trial was scheduled to begin.

Dixon accused L.A. Reid of sexual assault, harassment, and career retaliation linked to incidents in the early 2000s. She alleged that after rejecting his advances, her professional growth at the label was deliberately undermined, limiting her ability to develop artists and eventually forcing her exit from the company.

The case was brought under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, legislation Dixon has publicly advocated for as a means of holding powerful figures accountable. While the terms of the settlement were not disclosed and Reid continues to deny the allegations, Dixon described the resolution as a meaningful step forward.

In a statement reported by The New York Times, Dixon said the outcome offers hope to others in the industry, adding that she believes the case contributes to building a safer music business and represents “a ray of light peeking through the clouds” for survivors.
