The Senior Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre, Bolaji Idowu, has announced a financial support initiative for church workers who are currently unemployed.
Speaking during a church service, Idowu disclosed that affected workers would receive a monthly stipend of ₦50,000 for three months to help them stabilise while searching for new employment.
“All those who serve in church who are in between jobs—those who used to have a job but lost it—for the next three months, we will be giving them ₦50,000 every month to help them until they get their next job,” he said.
The initiative is targeted at leaders and workers serving in various capacities within the church who have lost their jobs.
Emphasising the church’s responsibility to support its members, Idowu added, “All those leaders that serve in the church that I just mentioned, we are giving ₦50,000 to help them stabilise. One of the things the church should do is to be there for one another—to help them stabilise.”
He explained that eligible workers would need to register with the church administration to access the support, noting that the process would be based on trust rather than extensive screening.
“If you fall into that category, you should see your pastor and the church administration and register. We’re not going to do so many interviews because if you serve, we trust that you are honest,” he said.
The announcement was greeted with applause from members of the congregation, many of whom praised the church’s gesture of support.
