Nigerian singer Skales has shared an emotional testimony about how his fortunes dramatically changed in 2025, attributing his career revival to a viral moment involving Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal.
The musician made the revelation while giving a testimony at Harvesters Church, where he opened up about what he described as the most spiritually demanding season of his life.
According to Skales, he began the year with intense prayers and fasting, explaining that 2025 marked the longest and most difficult fasting period he had ever undertaken. During that time, he wrote down seven specific prayer points and presented them to God.
He said all seven prayers were answered in a single day.
Skales recounted that the defining breakthrough came when a video of teenage football sensation Lamine Yamal dancing to his 2015 hit song “Shake Body” went viral online. The clip reignited public interest in the track and brought renewed attention to his music career.
Following the viral moment in April, the singer experienced a resurgence that included exclusive invitations to major events, such as Barcelona’s Copa del Rey celebration, where he performed. He also released a tribute song titled “Dance Like Lamine Yamal” in honor of the young football star.
While addressing the congregation, Skales said in part:
“Earlier this year, I prayed a lot and fasted a lot; I’ve never fasted like this year. I told God that He needed to bless me because I was being laughed at, and my career just looked funny. I wrote down seven prayer points, and all of them happened in one day. The one that changed my life was when a kid in Barcelona, Lamine Yamal, did a simple dance step to my song, and it went viral.”
The testimony has since resonated with fans, many of whom praised the singer for his resilience and renewed faith amid career challenges.
